With the increase in product manufacturers and technology development companies making claims to position themselves and their products/technology as viable solutions to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment, it is important that products/technologies are vetted and assessed for their efficacy.

 About Program

NEU’s Validation/Verification Program provides third-party validation or verification of the environmental claims of both existing and innovative new products/technologies associated with low-carbon cement, concrete and concrete products following the requirements of international standards.

Validation and verification are defined as:

 Validation

Assessing the reasonableness of the claims, assumptions, limitations, and methods that support an environmental claim and applies to the outcome of future activities.

 Verification

Assessing an environmental information claim based on historical data/information to determine whether the statement is materially correct and conforms to the verification criteria.

The process is conducted impartially by subject matter experts (SME) based on internationally accepted ISO standards. See NEU Procedures for more information about the NEU Validation/Verification Program.
